Samaritan's Purse-Our Main Charity

Because we are called to share our blessings with others, A Woman's Respite is supporting Samaritan's Purse. This is an international relief organization that has been working tirelessly throughout the world to bring relief, hope and love in Christ" name. We are proud to support this worthy charity.

Samaritan's Purse Mission Statement

The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, “Go and do likewise.” For over 50 years, Samaritan’s Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Samaritan's Purse Programs

  • International Crisis Relief -Samaritan's Purse stands ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes. We specialize in meeting critical needs for victims of conflict, disaster, famine, and epidemics throughout the world, often working through ministry partners on the ground. We provide food, water, shelter, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ.
  • Operation Christmas Child-From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country.
  • The Greatest Journey- is a 12-lesson discipleship course designed for Operation Christmas Child shoebox recipients. Children who participate in the program learn how to follow Christ and share Him with others. As they do, entire families and communities are transformed by the power of the Gospel, and churches are started.
  • USA Disaster Relief-North American Ministries responds quickly when natural disasters strike, deploying an army of volunteers to come alongside homeowners to bring relief and compassion in Jesus’ Name. We also lead construction projects in remote Alaska and other parts of the world
  • World Medical Mission-World Medical Mission exists to address these needs by sending Christian medical and dental professionals on short-term trips to partnering mission hospitals and clinics around the world.
  • The Greta Home And Academy-The Greta Home and Academy is a safe place for orphaned and vulnerable children in Haiti to receive an education and grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. It was named in honor of former Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, whose advocacy for the people of Haiti helped save thousands of lives.
  • Children's Heart Project-For over 25 years this ministry has served over 1400 children with lifesaving heart surgery across the globe.
  • Operation Heal Our Patriots-Each Sunday evening throughout the summer, Samaritan's Purse aircraft touch down on the gravel runway at Samaritan Lodge Alaska to the sights and sounds of a flag-waving crowd. In one way, it marks the end of a journey for weary military couples, but it's the beginning of something, too.

These are just some of the projects that Samaritan's Purse supports. There are feeding projects, hurricane relief, feeding projects, clean water projects, and more. I know right now; they are very active in both Tornado relief in the USA as well as in the Ukraine. They could use your support.

How You Can Help

There are so many ways that you can make a difference in Christ's name. Of course, organizations like this need financial support. Every small or large donation makes a difference in some one's life. You can designate the project that you wish your funds to be used towards. It is a very fitting way to remember someone who has made a difference in your life.

You can also help with your hands. North American Ministries is always looking for volunteers to respond quickly when natural disasters strike. They work along the side of homeowners bringing relief and compassion

Volunteers and Churches are needed year-round for the Christmas Shoebox program.
