Focusing On Gratitude
Do you follow the world or follow your faith-based basics? The social media platforms focus on everyone sharing the things that are going on in their lives. In many cases, that means trying to up share the latest trips, cars or what people have acquired.
In the beginning, the social media platforms were meant to be a way for family and friends to be able to communicate. And I still believe that is still true. I love seeing pictures of my family and friends. I love being able to communicate with people that I love.
But we are also thrust into a platform where influencers are the new grail of how we must dress and what we must look like in order to be considered the model of perfection. This is especially true of our youth, more so than any other generation.
Society has become a must have rather than a thank you for what I have society. Think about what happens when the new iPhone are released. Thousands line up to get the latest version when in reality there is nothing wrong with the version that they have. They spend a great deal of money that they may or may not have just to be able to say they have it.
We all need to examine ourselves to think about how grateful we are on a daily basis for the blessings that we are given rather than focusing on getting things just to have things. Because in many cases the sacrifices that we make to get those things far outweigh the joy when we ger them.
When you practice gratitude daily, you will find more positive joy in your life. The more joy in your life, the better you will feel mentally and physically. That joy in your heart will make a huge difference in your home and work life.
I look at my own belongings and think, " Someday my family will go through these things and decide the value of them in their lives" After all, the things we own today are really just loaned to us for our lifetime.
As women, we have a lot of influence, not only about our own gratitude but the gratitude that our children learn and practice. If we express our gratitude not only to our Lord, but also to those we love and care about, that gratitude and love will be like a drop of water in a lake. It will spread anf influence others.
Actions On Gratitude
Here are some steps that you can take to increase your gratitude every day:
- Start with a simple prayer first thing in the morning just thanking God for all of your blessings. Every day focus on all the positives in your life rather than trhe negatove!
- Thank God at the end of your day for the good things that happened in your day. Even if you have had a bad day, thank Him for getting you through your day.
- Make sure to tell your family members how much you appreciate them. Acknowledge how much you love your children every day!
